Mother's & Daughters in Touch

Are you looking for ways to keep your relationship close?  Would you like a chance to learn more about each other?

Mothers and Daughters in Touch celebrates the mother-daughter relationship and provides an opportunity for mothers and their 9-14 year old daughters to spend time together, learn and have fun.  Through games and discussions, moms and their 9 – 14  year old daughters will learn about effective communication, problem solving, handling peer pressure and growing up. The program gives you a chance to explore values, growing up, trust, feelings, body image, self-esteem, puberty, and relationships.

For daughters between ages 9-11, here is what you can expect during the 8 weeks:
  • Getting to Know You…Allow Me to Introduce Myself.  Get to know everyone and ask questions you may have about the next 7 weeks.  (Week 1)
  • I Can’t Hear You…Can You Hear Me? Look at how we listen to one another.  (Week 2)
  • So How Do You Really Feel?  Look at why sharing how we feel is an important part of communication.  (Week 3)

Questions you may have:

I’m a foster mom.  Can I register for the program?

Anyone who is a female role model for the daughter is welcome to register with their “daughter” for the program.  This can include stepmoms, aunts, grandmothers, or other relative or close friend.

I have 2 daughters who are between 9 – 11 years old.  Can we register for the program all together?

Mothers and Daughters in Touch is a special time set aside to honour your relationship with your daughter.  The majority of daughters who have participated in the Mothers and Daughters in Touch program have liked the program because it was a chance for them to be alone with their mom.  For this reason, we register one mother with one daughter at a time.  You are welcome to register for a different session with the second daughter.

We’re not sure if we will be able to attend all the sessions.  Should we still register?

If you think you will miss more than 1 class, we strongly recommend selecting a series that works better within your schedule.  The mother & daughter teams in your group count on your attendance to have the best experience possible.

How much does it cost?

There is no fee for attending the program.  Donations to Youville Community Health Centre are welcome.
